Welcome

Projects & Practices in Physics — E&M (EMPCubed) is the second-semester course in the P³ sequence, covering electricity and magnetism from charge, field, and potential through circuit elements, magnetic fields and forces, and electromagnetic induction. It follows the same project-based approach as the first-semester course: students work in groups on modeling projects, combining mathematical theory, conceptual understanding, and computational tools, while instructors facilitate discussion rather than lecture.

This site collects the EMPCubed course notes, organized by week, and the worked examples referenced throughout them, migrated from the original MSU PERL wiki.

Course materials were developed by Michigan State University’s Physics Education Research Lab and Department of Physics and Astronomy, drawing on physics education research and instructor feedback. Content is available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license.
